Professional, hand-crafted Tela prensada castanets with a single resonance cup, by Jale.

The basic material used in their manufacture consists of thin, compressed strips of fabric (cotton or linen), which are impregnated with resin and bonded under high pressure. This material achieves a hardness comparable to the finest woods (such as grenadilla wood), but is far more resistant to changes in temperature and humidity.

The castanets produce a balanced and clear sound with a wide range of subtle musical nuances, making them a highly versatile and popular instrument for a wide variety of uses.

Like all castanets made from synthetic materials, they are resistant to temperature changes and have a sharper sound than traditional wooden castanets.
