Comentary to the painting "Las Meninas" by Velázquez:
The painting, which was painted in 1656, was originally called The Family of Philip IV.
This large oil on canvas is located in the Prado Museum in Madrid and is considered one of the most important works of world painting.
Notice:
The fans are made of natural wood, which is a non-elastic and imperfect material. Therefore, while cutting fragile fan ribs, there might naturally appear small imperfections, so that not every edge or corner is perfectly straight.
After painting and varnishing, the open fans are let to dry, and during this process, a drop of paint or varnish may run off somewhere and harden there.
Small imperfections on the wooden parts of the fan or small traces of drops of paint or varnish are not a reason for claims for replacement, as this is a common occurrence during the production of painted wooden fans.
